About Us
We want to share with you
How did we start?
Ten years ago, pediatric dentist Dr. Maritza Barboza (“Dra. Happy”) saw too many children living with dental pain because care was out of reach. With the early support of Bryan and Delinda Herr, Little Smiles of Hope began as a pilot in 2015—and soon, entrepreneurs, partners, and the D6 team joined the mission. What started with a handful of children has grown into a community movement that delivers specialized pediatric care, prevention, and education with dignity and love.
Thanks to generous donors, volunteers, and our annual charity event, we’ve provided 6,000+ appointments and supported 1,200+ children and 800+ families—helping kids return to school without pain, sleep better, and smile with confidence. And we’re just getting started.
Our goal is to reach as many children as possible before they turn 6 years old, so they can start elementary school healthy and cavity free. We work hard at restoring not only their health but their self-steem and confidence in dental professionals.

Our initiative
Leads to the commitment
In the time we have been active as a program, we have dedicated ourselves to provide care and the promotion of oral health of children living in Costa Rica. LiSOH works with those areas of society that do not have access to complex treatments from the public health system of our country.
Parents actively working
We love to involve families and actively work for the well-being of their children.
They participate in activities
As part of our program, we have a lot of fun creating activities for the children that allows them to learn through play.
We encourage creativity
Every child has unique abilities. When this abilities are identified and support the learning about holistic health dramatically enhanced.
